If you’ve already listened to Breaking Benjamin a million times, realized that Shinedown just isn’t cutting it for you anymore, and you can’t find your Three Days Grace CD anywhere, don’t fret!    There is a new band coming up in the ranks from the city of Detroit that will fit your taste just right. The band, The Product,  is quickly becoming one of the hardest working bands from the Midwest.   This band is doing a worthy job  of creating sounds much like those of  headlining artists on the radio.  Furthermore, they are also keeping the masses happy with new tunes that fit right into what their fans know and love. The band’s line-up is as follows: BJ Perry and Charlie Jewell both on vocals and guitar, RJ Perry on drums, and Rich Bennett on bass.

The Product’s latest music comes on their CD, So Alive, a six song melodic hard rock EP that will excite any fan of bands like Skillet and 3 Doors Down. Though this band originates from a city known for being dark and dreary, their music reflects nothing of the sort.  So Alive  starts off with “Light It Up”, a song full of energy and edgy, yet  simple lyrics meant to get listeners excited and off  their seats!  The song’s repeated chant of “Let’s light it up, have the time of our life” could easily be used as the anthem to start off anyone’s wild and crazy night.

From there, the CD goes into the next song “My Damage”, a tune that has a  hard-hitting verse with creeping guitars and slithering vocals. The simple hard rock over tones are comparable to that of radio hits from Papa Roach and Breaking Benjamin. “My Damage’s”  chorus is filled  with large catchy lyrics and a melody which helps draw in listeners to the song. It is clear that the band is aware of what is successful in the music industry today.

Similarly, “Memory” is a song that anyone fresh out of a bad relationship can relate to. Vocalist BJ  Perry sings, “All you’ll ever be is just a memory”.   Again, this song has a solid hard-hitting verse with a memorable chorus and a soft bridge ready to explode.   Next, is a song called “Out of Control”, followed by  a ballad, “Ever After You”. This was the song I was looking for.  ”Ever After You”  is a nice change of pace after the first four songs.    It is successful at showing another side of the band that  is not apparent from the beginning of the album. This track is full of great transitions and backing vocals that really fill up the song and bring it to new places.

The CD comes to an end with “Make Your Move”, a great ending that  combines the best parts of the  entire CD. This is the song that describes the band best, and was a great choice as The Product’s single. “Make Your Move” has strong guitar verses, an unforgettable chorus, and well-built lyrics.

At the end of the day, the band may not be doing anything overly new or original, but they are certainly expanding on a sound that has found a lot of success, and is one that everyone knows and loves. As The Product continues to make the right moves, and stays strong in their sound, they will soon be making a memorable  place for themselves in the rock market.
